Frequently Asked Questions

1. What types of Pilates classes do you offer?

I offer  both private sessions and small group classes. In a private session I work 1:1 with clients on specific goals or concerns. In these sessions we utilize every piece of equipment in the studio. In my class group classes, a maximum of three participants, we focus on Reformer and mat work.

2. I’m new—why do I need a private session before joining a small-group class?

I’m not a drop-in studio. My small groups are steady, skills-based, and made up of clients who train consistently and keep a standing spot. To protect the quality of the work—and to make sure you feel confident and safe—new clients start with a private session before joining a group.

A private gives you the best foundation. In this sessions we’ll cover Reformer setup and basics, assess your movement, clarify your goals, and set you up with clear cues and tailored modifications. Most new clients choose the New Client Package: 3 Privates—it’s the best value and makes the transition to group smooth.

Book a free consult call and we’ll talk it through before you start.

Important: If you’re injured, pregnant, have osteopenia or osteoporosis, small-group classes aren’t appropriate right now. Please book a private session or schedule a consult so we can create a plan that’s right for you.

3. Do I need prior Pilates experience?

Not at all! The majority of my clients started with zero Pilates experience. My sessions and classes are designed for all levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners. I provide modifications to suit your experience and fitness level.

4, How big are your group classes?

My group classes have a maximum of three participants! I keep my group classes small to ensure personalized attention and a strong focus on proper form and technique. This allows me to provide hands-on guidance and modifications, helping you get the most out of every session. Pilates was never meant to be experienced in a large group class, the magic sauce is in proper form and that is best achieved in a small group where your teacher can keep a close eye on you!

5. I have an injury or special condition. Can I still do Pilates?

Clients with injuries or special conditions are required to book in for private sessions. This way we can focus specifically on your unique needs, preventing injury and progressing at your own pace with exercises chosen just for you. If you're unsure whether Pilates is right for you, feel free to reach out by email or book an intro call!

6. What does comprehensively certified mean?

As a comprehensively certified Pilates instructor, this means I have completed extensive training in Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, and Barrel exercises. My certification through Balanced Body ensures that I have in-depth knowledge of movement, anatomy, and modifications for different bodies and abilities. My certification included 520 hours of training, but I have accumulated thousands of hours of both self-practice and teaching experience. You're in good hands—whether you're a beginner, an athlete, or recovering from an injury!

Comprehensive certification means you’re learning from someone who:
✔️ Has undergone rigorous training and testing
✔️ Can safely guide clients of all levels, including those with injuries or special conditions
✔️ Provides a well-rounded Pilates experience beyond just Mat or Reformer work

To maintain my certification, I’m required to complete continuing education each year — but honestly, I’d do it anyway. Traveling for training once or twice a year gives me the chance to work with my mentors in person, stay up to date with developments in Pilates and sports medicine, and connect with the wider Pilates community. It keeps me inspired, sharpens my skills, and ultimately allows my clients to benefit from the most thoughtful, up-to-date teaching possible. It’s a win-win.

7. How do I book in with you?

You can book your spot online through my website or by contacting me directly. Spaces are limited, so early booking is encouraged!

8. What do I wear to Pilates?

Wear comfortable, form-fitting activewear that allows for movement. Grip socks are required and are available for purchase the studio. Bring water and a smile!

9. How do I find your studio?

My studio is in the beautiful town of Quispamsis, New Brunswick, located at 7 Waverly Lane. I'm in a residential area so please drive with care as my neighbours are often outside with children and pets. My house is white siding with black windows, please park on the driveway and take the path around the front of the house where you will find the studio entrance. Enjoy the gardens along the way, there is always something new blooming each week!

10. Is there a weight limit for your equipment?

Yes. For safety and structural integrity, all equipment in the studio has a manufacturer-listed weight capacity of 350 lbs.

I want to emphasize that every body deserves access to movement that feels good,  is supportive, and empowering. If you're above the equipment limit and would like to explore off-equipment or personalized movement options, please don’t hesitate to reach out — I’d love to find a safe and respectful way to work together.

11. What payment methods do you accept?

I accept payment by etransfer, debit and cash. Credit cards are accepted on my website but there is a fee to do so.

12. Are you a home body?

I certainly am! There is no place I'd rather be than home. It's where my pets and snacks are, it's calm and cozy and where I feel my best. I love a play on words so I named my business Home Body Pilates, where we work on your body (and mind!) in my favourite place.
